The Collaborators: A Global Community
The 12 tracks on the Posterbook serve as a crossroads for a diverse cast of contributors, ranging from international icons to the duo’s closest inner circle:
Nigerian Afro-beats artist Layzee Ella brings a shimmering vocal bounce to a dance-floor meditation on the transience of nightlife.
Vocalist Alice Park weaves English and Korean lyrics into a bilingual ballad of longing and heartbreak.
A jagged, cubist funk workout featuring the distorted guitar of Gail Muldrow (Sly & The Family Stone, Parlet).
Saxophonist Chris Belden (Diamond Blues, Bad Motiv8r) and Brooklyn-based Trumpeter Matt Hull (Radio Brass, Stay Inside BK) and late visual artist Paul Laffoley contribute to the album's lone instrumental cut.
A psychedelic grind song called "Kool Aid Kvlture" featuring Adam Mason (Goratory, Sexcrement).
A roots-infused closing requiem featuring legendary jazz guitarist, and sonic hero to both Cantor and Drohan, Bill Frisell (Blue Note Records), along with the soulful depth of vocalists Sonya Rae Taylor (Gigi Perez, Boston Soul Collective), JoElle, Remington Swinson, and upright bass provided by Brandon Meeks (Robert Glasper, Thundercat).
The project’s 12 EPs are further enriched by contributions from Jesse Scheinin (Jesse & Forever, Nick Hakim), punk vocalist Nick Collella (The Pound Puppies, The Shangri-La’s), the layered textural production of trumpeter Jon Albertelly (Niki, suedefingers) and other members of the Drocan extended musical family.
